Hi, I’m Sarita Betschart, a New Zealand author with a passion for family, education, and the natural world. I love sharing my enthusiasm for birds, books, and learning through my writing.

I’ve written The New Zealand Bird Book, a fun and engaging introduction to some of Aotearoa’s beautiful native birds. It’s packed with interesting facts, stunning illustrations, and a touch of humor to make learning about birds enjoyable for all ages.

You can order it right here on my website! I also have a list of stockists if you’d prefer to pick up a copy in-store.

Yes! I offer free shipping on all orders over $100.

Books should arrive 2-5 working days from when they were ordered. I will get in touch if there is any hold up to getting your order in the mail.

Each order is hand-packaged with care by me. I use recycled cardboard and rescued printer roll paper to keep the books safe in the post.

I sign each book ordered through my website. If you would like a handwritten note with the signature please let me know when you order. It may also add another day or two to your shipping time.

This free book offer is only available for New Zealand orders.

Every order from my website in the month of April, 2025 will also get a free softcover NZ Bird book ($25 value) added to your order. This will not show in the cart when you buy, but will be mentioned in the email confirming your order and your shipping confirmation.

This free book will be sent to the same address as your order, in the same parcel.
